Spending lots of time with friends before I leave Klaipeda: Dolfinarium, sauna, amber market and other places.

Since my last post, I have been busy hanging out with friends as I leave Klaipeda on Tuesday. Even though I am excited to go to new places, I am sad to leave my friends here.

I am now in the swing of traveling and not really having an agenda, it's fantastic. With all of the activities that I talk about in tonight's blog, I am not entirely sure of which days I did what things.  I think that is good, as right now I am not really keeping track of time, like I would be at home.

Tomas. C (Slovakian Tomas), Nicole and I had another trip to he Sauna and Jakoozie and Andrea and I hit the beauty salon together. The lady at the beauty salon was very interested in my marital status and whether I plan to be married and have kids one day. She was also about the salon prices in Australia, which of course are more expensive than in Lithuania. Naturally I have managed to get a rash from the special 'sugaring' wax which is meant to be less irritating for the skin than wax, which I never get a rash from. :)

Tomas. L (Lithuanian Tomas) and I went ice skating together at a local rink.

My friend Annika and I had lunch together and I got to meet Annika's cute dog 'Teddy' that she found on the street and adopted. Annika's boyfriend Paulius kindly got me some antibiotics from his uncle, which they delivered to my apartment late at night in the  shifty feeling car park, like a good and proper drug deal.

Tomas. L and I hit up the Amber market together at Palanga which was great. I thought Tomas said we were leaving at 730am, so I set my alarm for 630. Then at 630 Tomas knocked on the door, so I quickly got some clothes on and ran out the door! I ended up spending a lot at the Amber Market (I am not even sure how much) and then leaving some of it behind by accident. It is not a good idea to shop when you are sleepy!

Amber cufflinks, and I think a broach for my Grandparents.

After the market we headed to 'Hash B Hash', a fantastic restaraunt that sells great Lithuanian food.

Hanging out at Hash B Hash With Tomas.

Potatoes cannibus and bacon.

Žemaitiškas šotinys. A little like a bean, potato, beef and tomato casserole.

The food market (inside a pavillion next to the amber market).

Looking at the beach at Palanga, on a different day where there is now snow, unlike the first time I was in Palanga.

This is a Lithuanian 'ride' at the park, it is fantastic, and we need them in Australia. Each person holds on to a wooden handle, hanging off a rope opposite each other, and runs as fast as they can. In time, you find yourself swinging around in the air! It feels as though you are flying.

On Saturday night we went out to dinner together and drank Grappa in a bar inside the big boat in Klaipeda, and I talked to the gigantic bar tender who used to be a professional basketballer.

We walked through old town Klaipeda, looking at all the displays in the 'light festival'.

It was funny hearing 'Flume' and 'Angus and Julia Stone' our Aussie artists at one of the bars. I didn't feel that drunk last night but before I knew it, it was 3am and I felt rubbish today!

Today we caught  the ferry to the Dolfinarium. It turns out, that they were filming a  TV show at the Dolfinarium, where celebrities  have to give a performance with the Dophins, as a competition as to who gives the best performance. The actor who did an Austin Powers performance with the doplhins was my favourite. I have always wanted to be on Eurovision, and this came pretty close, we all thought.Tomas filmed one of the performance: http://youtu.be/lI9nyCm1y40

Tomorrow, I am off to Rega for the day (a big day, 4.5 hours on the bus each way), then coffee with my teachers and friends when I return tomorrow evening. I am then catching the bus to Vilnius on Tuesday.

Labanaktis.
